Preparing to Apply

Rosa Village is a cooperative that offers affordable housing. Co-op members live together, share responsibility, and make decisions together through a democratic process. Before applying, learn more about co-op living and decide whether it’s a good fit for you at the Membership Information page.

1. Check that you meet the basic requirements: Review the income limits and membership share cost in the flyer above. Applicants must meet the income requirements, plan to make Rosa Village their primary home, and be able to purchase a membership share.

2. Start gathering your income documents: You’ll need to show that your household has stable income. This can include your two most recent pay stubs, Social Security/SSI/SSDI award letters, 1099 forms, or other income documentation. 

3. Think about your references: Each adult applicant will need:

   1. Two housing references from a landlord, property manager, shelter provider, or another person who can speak to your housing history. 

   2. Three personal references who can speak to qualities such as reliability, responsibility, teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving. These could be coworkers, neighbors, teachers, fellow volunteers, or service providers.

4. Know what to expect from the background check: Applicants who move forward in the selection process will be asked to complete a background check that includes criminal conviction history. A conviction does not automatically disqualify you. Relevant convictions will be considered individually and on a case-by-case basis.
